Does Your Virginity Belong To Daddy

Hopefully Sweet 16 Balls aren't part of the past but if we leave it to the evangelical christian movement the only balls our daughters will attend are the Purity Balls.

This is a gala where fathers and daughters dance and feast the night away. The young girl and young lady takes a vow to save her virginity til marriage. She signs a virginity covenant.

Her allegiance to this commitment is made with her daddy. Her young sexuality for purity is placed in his patriarchal hands. Many of these young girls make a promise to their fathers not even to kiss a boy until they have wedded. Dad places a pen in her hands as he glows with a smile. After the signing of their contract & covenant he puts a commitment ring on his daughter's finger. 'Where is Mother during all of this?' I guess at home doing a load of his laundry.

Now one of the prerequisites for attending such a function is that you are about to or have begun your menstrual cycle. Ain't that a hoot! Call me creepy or call me eerie, but I don't want to and never have wanted to be a part of a Father & Daughter's evening based on a guideline, 'Have you had your period?' There is something completely off kilter going on here.

The fathers are dressed dappered down in tuxedos and the daughters are wearing formals an evening gowns. Beautifully attired they are in high priced backless prom-like dresses. I'm giving myself chills just thinking of it. I wonder when was the last time Dad took Mom out polished and smellin' good in a tuxedo? This evangelical movement for our girls pledging their virginity as a keepsake to their daddy's has been taking place for nearly the last decade.
Yes, a young girl's sexuality now belongs to her father.

On another blog, someone wrote,
"Regarding those Purity Balls that our government is helping fund....
It's interesting to note that many of the churches who originally promoted this idea are Reconstructionist groups, rather than mainstream Christian denominations. Reconstructionism is a rapidly growing and arguably heretical sect of Christianity, whose adherents follow the teachings of John Rousas Rushdoony and Gary North in addition to and often instead of those of Jesus Christ, and their goal is to eventually take over America and install their brand of faith as the state religion.

Here are a couple of websites that will show you what Reconstructionists typically believe:

And, here is a link for VisionForum, a HUGE promoter of a similar idea -- the Father-Daughter Retreat concept -- and one of America's leading homeschooling curriculum companies. VisionForum is run by Doug Phillips, son of ex-Reagan cabinet member Howard Phillips and pastor of Boerne Christian Assembly, a hyper-patriarchal Reconstructionist congregation where women are relegated to virtual slavery in their own homes, denied higher education, forbidden to hold jobs or seek public office, and are discouraged from voting; they are not permitted to participate in prayer in the church services, make prayer requests in church, or even receive communion unless it is served to them by their husband or another male member of the congregation.

The Phillipses are quite the father and son team, too -- Howard Phillips is the founder of the Constitution Party, whose 2004 presidential nominee was League of the South member Michael Peroutka. While the Constitution Party courted the votes of the League of the South (identified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center) and other neoConfederate groups in 2004, Howard's son, Pastor Doug, was hard at work garnering the Christian vote, encouraging his congregation to vote for Peroutka and warning them that they were not spiritually "at liberty" to vote for the Bush or Kerry because of their unBiblical stances on key issues.

And our government is funding father-daughter dinner dances for these groups. Sweet."

Sweet indeed...

Sweet Indeed my friend I was rather appalled when I read via Marie Claire Magazine this was being govt. funded, of all the things to fund.

Yet, this is becoming what mainstream 'Christianity' has resorted to.

It's the reason so many people are saying, "don't call me a Christian, call me a child of God."

The Christian now is very religious. Whereas, and remember when people who held dear to their faith began to denounce being religious, because of the patriarchal restrictions confinements and just plain stone you to death kind of love.

As a person, a child of God who truly loves Him/Her this is such a mainstream christian way.

thank you for sharing!
