Fred Phelps Protestors at Tim Russert's Funeral

They just keep showing up at the wrong funerals! Believe me they wouldn't want to show up at a funeral that me nor my family members are attending. Uh Uh...and we're trying to get someone buried placed in a grave, they would get a beat down, I'm not lying.

At Tim Russert's Kennedy Center memorial, members of the Westboro Baptist Church picketed and held placards cursing the beloved Meet the Press host for his Catholicism and tolerance of homosexuality.

Something tells me that today, as hundreds weep not two hundred yards from my office, is not the day to say something nice about the most reviled family in America. But when is the day? ---LOL do you think??

The kindest thing one can say about the Phelps clan (the Church consists primarily of one family) is that they are not exactly what they seem. Commonly thought to be an extreme branch of the Religious Right, they in fact profoundly loathe the figures most identified with religious conservatism. ---Wow that they appear lifelike and human so this author is what confirming our back in the mind thoughts -- they are monsters and demons -- possibly aliens? Sorry aliens I didn't mean to disrespect you like that!

Why, then, disturb the peace of Tim Russert, a man privately devout in his practice of a faith not known for its friendliness to gays?

The Phelpses say that Russert failed to use his prominence to fulminate against gays in general, or even ordained gay pedophiles in his own religion. (Guilty as charged, I guess.)

I cannot imagine that Russert would have wanted these crazed First Amendment absolutists at his own memorial service, but as a journalist, he might have bitterly appreciated their right to be there. ---Evidently, this author is on crack and they're drunk! You can finish reading (these were only excerpts) this journalistic winning article...at The Family That Protests Together/The Atlantic.com

Human Rights Campaign Endorses Barack Obama

according to Bloggernista:

The Human Rights Campaign endorsed Barack Obama today for president of the United States. In making the announcement HRC President Joe Solmonese said:

"HRC is proud to throw our full support behind Senator Obama’s presidential campaign,” said HRC Senator Obama has consistently shown that he understands, as we do, that, GLBT rights are civil rights, and human rights. Senator Obama has said that embracing ‘our gay brothers and sisters’ is true to Martin Luther King’s vision; I know that Senator Obama’s vision is one of equality, fairness, and justice for all of us. We have just witnessed a historic primary contest in which two champions of our community demonstrated that they hear our voices and share our dreams. For millions across this country, their candidacies—as the first woman and the first African American to be top contenders for the nomination of a major party—have already been life-changing, inspiring, and groundbreaking. Senators Obama and Clinton both remained our allies whether they were campaigning in New Mexico or Nebraska; in California or Kansas. They are, quite simply, heroes to anyone fighting for equality."

The choice for supporters of LGBT equality is clear. Obama has gone on record as being in favor of full equality for LGBT people with the exception of marriage. McCain, on the other hand, has a clear record of opposition to LGBT civil rights.

i am so proud to be an American at this time - a gay one too!

Opposition is forming against Gov. David Paterson's directive to state agencies to recognize gay marriages legally performed in other states and countries.

The Rev. Duane Motley of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms says the Democratic governor is circumventing the Legislature and courts and slapping New Yorkers in the face. [yeah yeah whatever suck it up Reverend and move on to something else]

Gambian President says, “Cut off the head” of any homosexual caught in his country."

Forgive me for my potty mouth and what I'm about to say, "but why don't they just kill this bastard?!"

Seriously, he should be dead before morning.

The citizens there should not wait for Amnesty International or the United States of America to save them from another genocide.

This time it's a genocide against gays and lesbians, they have got to start protecting themselves.

"You say wanna a Revolution?" I'd give them one!

Civil Rights and Gay Rights Don't Belong in The Same Sentence

Crystal Dixon a Human Resources Officer at The University of Toledo has been put on suspension until further investigation for writing a piece on Gay rights vs Civil rights. In Dixon's opinion these words don't belong in the same sentence. The Human Resources Officer is responsible for promoting equity and diversity.

Right out the gate she began with, "As a Black woman who happens to be an alumnus of the University of Toledo's Graduate School, an employee and business owner, I take great umbrage at the notion that those choosing the homosexual lifestyle are "civil rights victims." Here's why. I cannot wake up tomorrow and not be a Black woman."

Geesh, here we go again! I am so tired of hearing this as a justification from African American people. It's really a poor argument. Apparently Crystal Dixon feels her credentials are worthy of mentioning, as if this will make this ignorant prejudice more credible.

Also, Ms. Dixon seeing as you feel so educated and prominent through your achievements, then why is it you're not in knowledge of the definition of Civil Rights? Civil Rights have nothing to do with sexual orientation. These rights have absolutely nothing to do with if you are Black or White. These rights are based on humanness. Alloted to all human beings. That's why it's called a civil right.

The argument I cannot wake up and not be Black is as old an antiquated as the point constantly made by heterosexuals, "God made Adam & Eve not Adam and Steve." Well if there is a God he/she in fact made Steve and Adam. They didn't come into existence by the mixing of a quick 15 minute recipe from Betty Crocker.

Dr. Martin Luther King fought for everyone to have civil rights. He didn't go around taking a survey, "Before I fight for you let me ask you this are you gay or straight?" So don't get it twisted Ms Dixon. Your defense is weak and you're grasping at straws.

Crystal Dixon goes on to say, "Daily, thousands of homosexuals make a life decision to leave the gay lifestyle evidenced by the growing population of PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex Gays) and Exodus International just to name a few." I want her to wake up tomorrow and decide to leave her heterosexual lifestyle. I wonder how hard she would find this?
