"We just executed a man with the IQ of an 11-year-old child," Virginia defense attorney Timothy M. Richardson announced to reporters after the death of his client at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va. At 10 p.m. on May 27, state executioners killed 31-year old Kevin Green, who confessed to the murder of a convenience store owner during a robbery in 1998. Green was sent to death row and kept there for 10 years, despite having an IQ of 65, which qualified him as mentally retarded.

Mother Drove Her Son To Go Rob a Jewelry Store

They need to lock her up and throw away the key....

What parent in their right mind does something like this? A mother who knew her son was going to commit a crime, but was afraid that harm may happen to him. Therefore, she wanted to protect her baby.

In the process of this robbery being carried out the owner of the store was stabbed.

Mom was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison. She best be glad this was done in Berlin, cause I'm really hoping that the United States would have fried her.

Subway Has Employee Arrested for an Unpaid Drink

This is truly one of the saddest stories of ignorance an injustice I've read in a very longtime, which I found by way of Capitalism Bad;Tree Pretty. I strongly urge everyone to boycott by not stepping one foot inside of a Subway Restaurant.

"A food worker who poured two cups of Diet Coke at work without paying for them has lost her job and is facing criminal charges.

Dunedin worker Jackie Lang was fired from her fulltime job at fast-food franchise Subway after she shared a drink with a friend while consoling her during a break. About two weeks after she was fired, police charged her with the theft of two cups of Coke valued at $4. She will appear in Dunedin District Court this month."

I wish that I could find this hard to conceive, but I don't. And, I personally find that not only Subway but the arresting precinct has committed a much larger crime. Placing a young woman with Asperger's syndrome, which is a form of autism in a jail cell? For something which cannot even be considered a felony or by law a misdeameanor. No act of violence etc.

No More Jane Doe The Fight Against Rape

Donna Palomba formerly called herself 'Jane Doe'. Why? Because in the very home that she, her husband and children resided in is where she was raped. Donna was not only raped by an attacker, but when her local police department intervened, she was raped by them.

Check this out! A masked intruder broke into Mrs. Palomba's home. Her five and seven year old children were sound asleep in their bedrooms. Mr. Palomba was away. He had left town to attend a friend's wedding. Donna awoke and found a stranger in their bedroom. He made it very clear as to what he wanted.

A blindfold was placed over her eyes, her hands were tied behind her back and she was threatened with a knife and a gun. She was told if she reported it, then he would come back and kill her.

Before the assailant entered Donna's home he cut the lines to her telephone. Therefore, she fled to a neighbors house to call 911. The report was made and for the next several weeks the police were trying to find just who had done this. Until, they received an anonymous telephone call stating Mrs. Palomba's children had caught her having sex with this alleged perpetrator. This was really a lie and a cover up to an affair, which she had been having.

The next thing Donna knew she was being read her Miranda rights, interrogated and looking at jail time. A raping, all over again. The community in which she and her family had lived for so many years didn't support her. The Palomba's filed a suit against the police officers and the City of Waterbury Connecticut. It took nearly a decade to settle it, but more importantly to receive justice. She was awarded $190,000 in damages.

Yet, while the police department overlooked the true crime of what took place her rapist was out stalking and raping other women & attempting to rape young girls. The perpetrator was not only considered an upstanding citizen within their community, but he was a good friend since childhood to her husband.

During those years, stories were reported in the local newspaper. Donna was referred to as 'Jane Doe'. But, she's not a Jane Doe any more. As a matter of fact, Donna Palomba is the Founder of Jane Doe No More Incorporated.

The Mission
"The Jane Doe No More initiative will create awareness about the crime of sexual assault to ensure proper treatment of the victim. We will dispel myths and break stigmas associated with this violent crime. We will provide education and training tools for use by law enforcement, medical and legal professionals and provide guidance to victims and their families. Each person that interacts with the victim will be better prepared so that no further emotional harm is inflicted and the healing process is allowed to continue. The time from the sexual assault to healing will be shortened, resulting in the best possible chance for a victim's full and healthy recovery."

Summer Home Security Tips for the Single Woman

Summertime is finally arriving. And, this is a good time to really stay in tune with your surroundings. Our windows and doors are now beginning to remain open and the children keep running in and out. What about those sliding glass patio doors? Everyone is working outside mowing their yards, planting those flowers and taking special care with the trees, hedges and shrubbery. Yet, how tall are they? High enough to keep those nosey neighbors from peeking in, of course!

This may present a problem. Most criminals pre-select their targets and only break in If they believe they can get away with it. Burglars mark houses, which are easy to get in, without detection and fast to get out of.

Safety For The Single Woman

1. Put an alarm sticker on your window, even if you don't have one.
2. Post a "Beware Of Dog" sign, they don't know if Killer Killer is in there with you.
3. Place a pair of men's work boots by your door. Yeah, "Knock Knock Who's There?" The man with the big size 14 work boots.
4. And, if you want to go the extra mile, get a big dog bowl and place it by the door.

Outdoor Safety

1. Trim bushes to waist level, don't hide windows or doors.
2. Invest in motion detectors, thieves despise lights.
3. Bury all exposed phone lines, if cut they will disable your alarm.
4. Glass Sliding Doors/French Doors have special locks, plus put a broomstick inside the track to jam the door.
5. Don't leave notes posted on doors telling people you are gone and where you're at.
6. And, never leave ladders in your yard.

Inside Safety

1. Deadbolt locks are the best, make sure to buy the pick resistant.
2. Apartment dwellers, don't rely on a chain latch for security only. Open the door only after you know who it is, use the peephole.
3. Have window locks installed on your windows and use them.
4. Remember, to lock and secure your garage door.

Please remember that July and August are when the most break ins occur, because everyone is vacationing. Basically, they prefer us not being there. However, let's keep this in mind, burglars will do more than steal, if things don't go according to their plans. They commit rape, assault and sometimes murder.

Who are 'Men Can Stop Rape'?

An organization of men who worked jointly to educate other men about issues regarding masculinity and violence. Their belief, "rape is a choice men make to exert power over others and is, therefore, a men’s issue. As long as men continue to make this choice or to remain silent while other men are violent, rape will continue. (MCSR) believes men can live peacefully with women and other men, but to do so, we must redefine what it means to be a man."

MCSR are educating young men in high school and college through the Men Of Strength Club.

As mothers I'm sure we all tell our sons, that when a girl or woman says no, then this is exactly what it means. Unfortunately, some young boys may not quite understand this coming from a mother. He may not feel as comfortable asking questions, that are fuzzy to him. Especially with the many mixed messages being sent in the form of billboards, advertisement, videos and music. Their goal is to educate young men by mentoring an evoking an open dialogue, 'What is masculinity and what is violence?'

The Men of Strength Club has been implemented at the Duke Ellington School of Arts and Howard University, to only name a few. They have received many recognition, honors an awards from organizations such as, Ms. Foundation for Women, The National Crime Prevention Council and Center for Disease Control.

They have support from Liz Claiborne Inc. and Redbook Magazine.

Mothers In Prison and The Daughters Left Behind

Lisa Ling, is a Special Correspondent for the Oprah Show and contributor to the National Geographic Channel and the Oxygen Network.

For the Oxygen Network Ling is hosting a series very important to her that explores the challenges that girls face worldwide: it's called "Who Cares About Girls?"

'Who Cares About Girls?' is a documentary series based on how young women are treated in this world. Her plight is to inspire everyone to stand up for them.

Lisa began her two part series with 'Daughters Left Behind.'

The vast majority of people in our society look no further after a woman has been sentenced to prison. No other than 'She got what she deserved.' Yet, maybe so. Unfortunately, the vast majority of women incarcerated in prison are mothers, mothers with daughters who are simply left behind.

If these young girls are fortunate enough loving grandparents or a family member will take care of them until mom returns home, but many aren't so lucky. And, if this is the case just the stress of the separation and the reason why brings on anxiety, depression, anger, socialization and often behavioral problems.

Families of the incarcerated have difficulties getting to prison for a visitation. Often, the institution is in a surrounding city or completely out-of-state. The amount MCI and others charge a loved one to accept a collect call is a crime within itself. The price is astronomical. The young girl may not only get to see mother for months and years at a time, but telephone calls can be sparse and on a time limit. A, 5 minute call could cost $7.00 then time is up.

Every reformatory has a different set of rules governing visitation. Either contact or no contact visits are permissible. If no contact is allowed then daughter isn't permitted to touch or hug her mother. If this is a guideline while on a visit, it's a possibility the female inmate must sit on her hands through out the visitation. This act is beyond cruelty for the continued growth of a child.

However, very positive changes have began to take place in several women's prisons. For instance, Shakapee Women's Prison in Minnesota and Bedford Hills maximum security prison in New York. Programs have been implemented so daughter can spend up to a week with their mothers. From one night a month, to a 4 day summer camp once per year.

The Children's Center at Bedford Hills

This program has been designed to afford the mothers and daughters an opportunity to spend 5 days in a row together. Where the visitation does takes place there are games art and other activities to help foster very much needed bonding and nurturing. They share meals laugh talk and hopefully do some healing.

Host families within the community provide a living place for the children during their stay.

Girl Scouts Beyond Bars

Strives to maintain a loving and nurturing mother and daughter relationship while mother is incarcerated. By helping the young girls better equip themselves while dealing with the loss and separation, which they are experiencing. And, hopefully providing the mothers a means to make positive decisions, upon release. As of today, there are over 37 Girl Scouts Beyond Bars helping 1,000 girls.

Judge Overturned Child Internet Porn Law

And, the day keeps getting even crazier....

Breaking News from CNN, Judge Lowell Reed has overturned a 1998 Law created and intended to keep young under-aged minor children from viewing porn sites.

However, Honorable Reed expressed his sympathy about the matter but it was infringing upon freedom of speech. And, there is computer software that could block such content. I wish he would tell me where to purchase it at.

Hard working citizens who made bad decisions earlier in their lives are having problems securing stable employment due to simple misdemeanors. In some states a person convicted of a felony can not participate in the voting process for 10 to 20 years.

Yet, somehow the slimiest slum buckets are hired on the spot as caregivers for our children. Sexual Predators walk straight out the doors to freedom when they have molested a child.

Why? Because of Judges like this.
